God saw you in Himself before the foundations of the world were ever created (Ephesians 1:3-5). He could have put you in the world at any time, but He put you in the world exactly when He needed you in the world. He saw you at the same time He saw Moses and Joshua and Peter and Paul, yet He put Moses and Joshua and Peter and Paul and you in the world at different times based on what He knew the world needed most from Himself at the exact time the world needed it.
God is infinite. His qualities and characteristics and talents and abilities and attributes are infinite. No one human being could contain them all. Therefore, He looked inside of Himself, saw a part of His heart He knew the world needed, and at the precise moment the world needed that part of His heart the most, you were conceived. He put you into the world to bring to the world that most needed part of Himself at precisely the right time. That means you and your life are eternally consequential, eternally significant to this world. That means you are a son of God. He is your Dad. He is responsible for you because He is responsible for your life existing, for your life existing right now in this moment. He put you here, and He’s responsible for you. You are His son. You are a joint-heir with Jesus Christ (Romans 8:17). Everything Jesus has, YOU HAVE. That is who you are. That is your true identity (Ephesians 2:10).
Identity is the force that governs our lives and regulates our results. Our identity is the story we tell ourselves about ourselves. Our identity drives our decisions, and our decisions determine our destiny. That’s why Satan has done his best to attack us, to make sure we are unaware of who we really are. Knowing we are sons of the One Most High God changes our perspective and influences our decision making to carry us toward our Father’s destiny for us. So the enemy comes at us from every angle possible, fighting to keep us distracted from the fact we are sons of God and joint-heirs with Jesus. Unfortunately, most of us have believed his lies about who and what we are to the point of repeating those lies to ourselves day in and day out, and, therefore, most of us have been living our lives outside of our true identity. This is what has caused our lives to be so frustrated and stressed and seemingly insignificant. God wants us to live, to breathe and eat and explore and love and work and serve and lead and give, in the reality that we are His sons with access to everything He possesses (Ephesians 1:3). There are so many men who don’t realize Who their Father really is, which also keeps them from knowing who they really are.
God wants His sons back. The Great Commission, our assignment and mission from Jesus, is to go “make disciples” (Matthew 28:19-20). Making disciples, however, is NOT finding men and convincing them to join the team or to “ask Jesus into their heart.” Making disciples is about connecting them to Jesus, so that they can then find out who their real Father is, find out who Jesus really is, find out who they really are, and, maybe for the first time ever in their lives, see and experience their Father’s heart for them. The goal is to connect men to their true identity. Only Jesus can confirm their true identity in the deepest part of their hearts, so we must connect men to Jesus. They must know they are a son of God Himself. This is also why Jesus, as the Son of God, came to earth. Because it takes a son to really teach a son how to be a son. The Great Commission is a brother teaching a brother how to be a brother. A son teaching a son how to be a son.
That is our mission. That is our calling. That is our assignment. There is absolutely nothing more significant and consequential to this world than that. And in order to accomplish that mission in the world right now, YOU had to be here right now. If God needed Moses to get it done, then Moses would be here right now. If God needed Peter to accomplish the mission, then Peter would be here right now. Neither of them are here at this moment in history, but guess who is…YOU ARE. You are the man for this critical time in history. You had to exist at this time in history in order for the world to experience the unique aspect of the Father’s heart it needs that only you possess, that only you can bring. If you don’t bring it, it doesn’t get brought. God wants His sons back. There are 7 billion people on this planet, and they all need you, son of God, to be who you really are, to minister to the world your part of the Father’s heart.
