Identity: Part 1

God saw you in Himself before the foundations of the world were ever created (Ephesians 1:4). He could have put you in the world at any time, but He put you in the world exactly when He needed you in the world. He saw you at the same time He saw Moses and Joshua and Peter and Paul, yet He put Moses and Joshua and Peter and Paul and you in the world at different times based on what He knew the world needed most from Himself at the exact time the world needed it.

God is infinite. His qualities and characteristics and talents and abilities and attributes are infinite. No one human being could contain them all. Therefore, He looked inside of Himself, saw a part of His heart He knew the world needed, and at the precise moment the world needed that part of His heart the most, you were conceived. He put you into the world to bring to the world that most needed part of Himself at precisely the right time. That means you and your life are eternally consequential, eternally significant to this world. That means you are a son of God. He is your Dad. He is responsible for you because He is responsible for your life existing, for your life existing right now in this moment. He put you here, and He’s responsible for you. You are His son. You are a joint-heir with Jesus Christ (Romans 8:17). Everything Jesus has, YOU HAVE. That is who you are. That is your true identity (Ephesians 2:10).

Let’s bring it home:

Have you ever thought of God as being your Dad?

If God is your Dad, what does that mean? What thoughts or questions does this stir up in your heart?

Does this change anything about your perspective of yourself?
